Got my Jan 07 registered Alfa 159 2.2 JTS last night!! Loving the car. Great thing is am the only proud owner of a 159 at work, 1 among 700 odd cars in the car park!! Feels
great for being the only one with some passion.
Coming to more serious matters, I now got the car used with about 8950 miles on the clock from a big car supermarket place. The thing is the car does not come with any service history. It appears that the previous owners were Fiat auto contracts and the car was used as a lease or company car. Even the Pre-delivery inspection record hasnít been stamped suggesting they had bought the car directly from somewhere and maintained it themselves. Looking at the service book, it suggests that for the warranty to be valid, the car must be serviced according to the schedule by an Alfa dealer (or any independent garage for that matter). First service is due at 18k miles, the car having done only 9k miles it appears there is still time. However, there is another section relating to a yearly service for low mileage (i.e less than 9000 miles, not clear if this is in a year). Essentially my Q being, if the book isnít stamped, I am assuming the warranty is void. Am I right about this or is there any way the warranty can still be valid? Car was registered Jan 07, it now April 08 = 1 year and 3 months. Book suggests a tolerance of 1 month for servicing which means end of Feb/March?
Also, where do I stand with regards to official recall work, can I still take it to AR?
Just for my peace of mind, I have taken out an extended AA warranty, but any help about the above will be much appreciated.
