Re: Tyre profile on 159 Ti
Its not a case of won't fit though.
For eight inch rims the recommended tyre width (from aftermarket wheel suppliers is 235, 245, 255. 225s are best fitted to 7 1/2 inch rims. That isnt to say that they won't fit - they will, but they fit better on those size rims.
I would be careful with the XL or not though: on the 18s the bridgestones are available in 94 and 98XL. the 94 are for AM V8s and the 98XLs are for 159s. Its not just the standing load either that we are talking about. The maximum load is when cornering hard and fast. and like you say a 2.4jtd is heavy, very heavy at the front and capable of tyre shredding performance. I wouldn't want to test the goodwill of my insurance company if I ended up in a hedge just for a few quid scrimped on tyres. Lets face it those four handed sized areas of contact on the road are your link between life and death. The car was designed to use 235/40 19 96xl tyres because thats what the engineers and designers considered to be the best option on handling, ride, comfort and safety. They spent years doing this. ....and you think you know better????
But then again, remember too who Fiat Spa has their sponsorship deals with!!!!
