Thanks for the words of support!
At the moment im sticking to pursuing it via Alfa UK, reason being that they are the overall 'governing body' of Alfa operations in the UK, if you like.... Also they are in close cohorts with Fiat Finance, being in the same building in Slough etc.
Every email or letter I send to ARUK gets CC to Chris Nicoll, and thus far I have not had a response from him , read in to that what you will... At the moment im determined to maintain a friendly approach, point out the continuing faults (which they are unable to rectify) and hope they see sense and provide a replacement car, im quite happy to do this on a renewed 3 yr lease (meaining they get another 4-5k out of me!) Should things not go the way I hope them to, I have names and contact details of people higher up the food chain (kindly supplied by people on here, thanks - you know who you are!!) and I will escalate the case if needs be. Ultimately I may have to consider stopping payments and plonking the car on HROs doorstep as suggested.
The sad thing is that I absolutely LOVE Alfa, if they just sorted it out they would have a guaranteed customer for the next 30 odd years (im only a young chap
) and my old man is also in the market for a new Spider, but is waiting to see how this pans out. I hope someone, somewhere is able to take the longterm view, but I doubt it.
As it stands im fairly confident every mile I put on the car is wrecking the clutch again, the pedal sticks and some times jumps and the clutch just doesnt 'feel' right, but hey-ho at the end of the day its not my car
As already mentioned I use this car as my only means of transport, and its imperative that it works. I am an Air Traffic Controller and split my time between the UK and Holland, meaning I go across the water very regualarly - I just cant afford to have a defective car, which by now I think it is fair to say I do! When I picked it up from HRO earlier this week it wasnt quite ready on time (there was much more damage to the clutch than foreseen and they needed extra parts) and thus I had to wait around for a couple of hours - in the end I missed my Ferry from Dover and was a good 4hrs late getting back to my house - no great shakes on this occasion but on another day that could cause me and a lot of other people a lot of grief.
It feels to me as though ARUK are dragging their heels a bit, they have known about this problem for a long time know and essentially we have made little or no progress. Im hoping that in the next week they will get back to me with good news, but we shall see...................
