I have had the (pretty common) problem of the rumbling power steering for quite a while (manifests itself as a nasty rumble on cold mornings).
This progressed lately to the PAS become very whiney in the mornings, infact it sounded a lot like one of the new Minis with the electric PAS.
So I took it to the dealer last week, no problem a common problem he said, ill get the parts bring it back in a week and we will put the correct fluid in.
Took it back this morning - got a call just now (1hr later) and turns out the whole power steering pump is sh@gged!! So thats a new pump after only 11k miles
Thats on top of all the roof problems I have been having/glow plugs failing/crazy alarm/tire eating antics - and don't forget the outstanding problem I have with the clutch pedal getting stuck down all the time!
I still love the car dearly and in fact the problems its had haven't bothered me at all, at the end of the day they have all been fixed for free - but I must admit its getting a little tiresome having to ring the dealer every 2nd week to report a new problem.
Subjectively I guess you could say that it really shouldn't happen on a £32k sports car with less than 12k miles on it and less than 1yr old.
Anyone else having such a poor run with their Spider?
