Brera rear shelf speakers - custom fit
Some of you may have read my procrastination on an after market sound system in the GAD board. Anyway, just to let you know both me and the car audio shop have tried to find a company that makes custom MDF rear speaker shelves for the Brera but no one is willing to do it as the car is too rare for it to be worth their while developing a shelf (I think rareity is a good thing anyway
However, the existing rear shelf is relatively solid and can be reinforced with MDF. Sextons have mounted 6.5" Hertz Hi-Energy Coaxials to my rear shelf, with a little connector in the corner to connect to the amp. I saw the finished shelf this morning and they've done a stirling job. The car is with them now for final wiring from the amp to the corner connector, plus amp tuning - will be finished today. Will let you know how it sounds. The speakers have grills from a set of Hertz Mille (£1,200 speakers
) on the top!! I didn't ask for that but the Mille markings can't be seen from outside the car, so hopefully it's not too much of a theft incentive...
The fronts already sound great, they are 5.25" Hertz energy components powered by an Audison SRx 4 channel amp. The front channels are set to "high pass", that is they only play freqs above about 65 hertz, thus freeing the front woofers to work the mid range only.
