Re: 159, Mercedes C, Audi A4, BMW 3
Look around the showrooms and you'll notice that 159s don't depreciate rapidly at all. Two years on and its difficult to get a base JTS or JTD in the right spec for 14k (70%). Remember that some journalists do little to break their own prejudice....like drive the cars for a period of time and the things they moan about are more personal preference than substantiated. Think about the depreciation for example. They will quote a base spec against the forecourt value of cars in 3 years time & it takes no account of the thousands of pounds it takes to spec a bm or audi up to alfa levels. My friend bought a mini cooper, specced up to 18k and only got 8500 for it at trade in after 3 years. A good deal???? class leading depreciation??? err no. It actually depreciated as much as a renault megane and turned out to be one of the worst depreciating cars he could have bought. We are force fed this inaccurate information by jounalists who are more concerned with maintaining the status quo than they are about what is real and true.
The only reason skoda has been elevated to better levels is that the VWness was patently obvious: lets face it they never said skoda was going to be a best buy when the remodelled Favorit came out did they?
