Hmmmm, not entirely convinced that the balme can be put sqaurely at the feet of the additional weight of the 159. Surely on regular motorway cruising the torque of the engine and the car's momentum would mean only a small reduction in economy? I can see it being a prob. on short journeys but not cosistent long distance cruising.
In defence however, I've been reading test comparisons of Volvo V70 D5 and the new Suburu Legacy diesel and neither are any better than the 159. In particular the D5 averaged only 23.4 mpg, and this with a an engine less powerfull and less torquey. Mind you I like the idea of a boxer diesel (Legacy).
