Was following a drink driver a couple of weeks ago, all over the shop ****ing off other drivers and swaying all over the road, kerbing his alloys on his 11 plate Audi at every opportunity. I pulled over after he somehow managed to turn off down a tight road towards where there were a lot of kids indoor play centers and such like, to call the police.
To be honest I never thought I would hear of anything about it again, but thought it was worth the call in any case just in case he did end up crashing into something/someone. Can you imagine picking up the paper the following day to find out that he did someone some harm knowing you could have done something about it?
Anyway the police did catch him slumped over his steering wheel after he somehow made it home. He was 4 times the limit and ended up being banned for 24 months and a £300 fine plus costs.
If I would have left it then that guy's life would carry on regardless as it happens he may end up losing his job/house/wife etc. On the other hand, despite him saying he's never done it before and according to the police he was an ok guy who had made a massive error of judgement, he still may have done it again and actually killed someone...
The traffic police were great and even came to visit us the next day to show my two girls the police car, how it all works and all the gear they carry. They spent a good half hour with them which pleased my youngest police obsessed daughter no end.
