metallic rattley almost scrapey clinking sound thing....

Hi All,

I have a slight "metallic rattley almost scrapey clinking sound thing...." coming I think from my NS front. noticeable over slightly bobbly surfaces but not when the car leans (i.e. through a corner).

Just had the upper suspension arm replaced (again ) so it's not that....although I did notice the sound for the first after it was replaced the first time.

I'm thinking, seeing as a cracked spring would have been obvious to the garage replacing the wishbone, that it could be a shock absorber maybe slowly losing its grip on life?

any thoughts?

Cheers

Is it road speed related? As you go faster, does it get louder?

And when you say 'scrapey' - like metal against metal?

yeh kind of a tinny metal on metal ish sound, quite high pitched if that's the right discription. reminds me a little bit of when I had a worn drop link on old fiat grande punto....

don't seem to be road speed related, just road surface bumpiness related.

Have you checked your brake pads? Smear a tiny amount of copper grease on the back of it where it contacts the brake piston.
