Re: 159 '08 Model
Hi Forum members,
Ok - my story is that I ordered in September a 159 3.2l TI with zenons, Bose, SATNAV and a couple of other extras. As Auto Lusso is primarily a 2.4l Diesel provider, this was always going to be a factory order and therefore a minimum 12 weeks.
Towards the 12 week period, I spoke to Laurence and he told me about the success of the TI in Europe, where it's not a limited edition model. As a result, Alfa was short on TI parts and the order would be delayed by a couple of months/ three months. I was offered an in-stock car, but they obviously didn't have anything that came close to what I had ordered, which I think is fair enough.
Conversation the other day focused on the factory closure and some potential benefits of being a bit late - namely, weight and build. Laurence said the price of the cars were going up but that I would not have to pay more for it and that my original order shouldn't be a problem to get, just a delay.
I'm cool with that because I currently drive a 147GTA and really don't want to give it up (baby forces sale - not financially, but just practically). I love my car. It was off the road for two months when some muppet ran over it when it was on off-road parking and I had to drive a BMW 3.2l 3-series, M Diesel. What a load of ****e!
I think Alfas are essentially cars of enormous character and generosity. I also think they're made by human beings for human beings. As such, they are more prone to faults, idiosyncrasities and dysfunctionality. I love that. All my gadgets have that quality in them (i.e. there's no iPod in my world!), as does my job, house and - I hope - me!
What am I prattling on about? Guys - let's stop the negativity and try to emulate the spirit of the cars we drive. They're wicked. More importantly, they're quite special. That's why we all have one.
