to elaborate -on the opening cycle , the left flap goes up fully and locks out , the other one goes up 3/4 of the way and then fall back down - apparently it caught a curtain pole ( she had behind the seats ) on the closing cycle - you can imagine there is tension in the household - still at least it is shut !

Sounds more like the flap motor is damaged, not out of sync - probably partly stripped the gear in it. The flap motors are not expensive to replace and they normally fail at some point - so you would have replaced them in the future anyway.

If you don't mind getting out of the car, the flaps can easily be turned into position with your fingers.

thanks for the response- when the cover gets to the top , the left flap just loses all tension & drops , when you suggest getting out , the flap has no tension & just drops, do i just push it in to position ?

When opening, move the flaps up so they click into the horizontal position;
when closing, there's a plastic tab on the underside of the flap that you twist - this allows the flap to move downwards from its previously fixed horizontal position.
I manually open and close my roof all the time now, I had so many issues with it trying to do it electrically.
