Glass Roof Replacement With Carbon Fibre.

Has any membr replaced their glass roof on a JTS with a carbon fibre section.

I see there are professional companies that can offer this part service for bonnets sunroofs, door cards etc 250 to 650, reason I ask I have a Prodrive with a stone chip in the roof and as the glass panel is neither use or ornament thought about replacing with lighter carbon fibre panel, reduce weight of the car,I assume no chassis issues due to steel roof underneath, simply remove and fix in place with sealant.

Interested to hear if any owner has gone down this route already , any problems?, also would it detract and reduce the car residual as no longer factory "original" prodrive spec my own view would be it enhances the car, lighter and infact the black carbon fibre roof against the red body would enhance the cars looks rather than glass that smears with the odd stone chip etc.

Interested to hear other members views, as sourcing a glass roof from a breaker, paying for removal and fitting would be also in this price band.

I think you'll find there is no steel roof underneath. If you take away your headlining you'll see the sky. Some members have cut holes in their rooflining and re-trimmed so they have the sky view - albeit with no sun blind.

I understood the JTS still has the steel roof section not cut out, with the glass roof bonded to the steel, cann anyone else confirm MR Flibble advice.

Thanks.

If I were you I would listen to Mr Flibble,
The glass roof is a structural part of the car, it is bonded in,
if it is chipped get it repaired, the same as you would for a windscreen.
