Considering remapping 2.4 JTDM

My 2.4JTDM 200 Brera has been running very odd just lately. The car runs amazing (apart from idling) with the MAF unplugged. I replaced it with a like for like genuine brand new bosch with brand new screw-type jubilee clips which hold the MAF firmly in-place. This has only made an improvement when the turbo is on-boost, and the power 2200 rpm and above is smoother/quieter. It's done nothing to the shocking lag I have been getting, which is EVEN worse when the Air-con is on. Bizarrely when the MAF is unplugged the car isn't that much less responsive when the A/C is on. I get a bad idle with the MAF plugged in, and an almost struggling to tick-over idle when unplugged, much to the point it starts coughing and spluttering like a 40 Y/O classic motor. Touching the throttle ever so slightly on idle and the issue is completely gone.

I suspect the EGR is stuck in a (partially open?) position, but rather than getting it cleaned or replaced and for the issue to come back months later; I much rather have it deleted so it is no longer an issue. I was also thinking of maybe getting the swirl flaps blanked/welded too, but found some info suggesting this is best done when also replacing the Cambelt/Water Pump. My Cambelt and Water Pump was only replaced in March!

I live in Suffolk, East Anglia; so is there any reputable tuning specialist locally that could help with my car? Also, what sort of cost would I be looking at?

On a side note, my car barely passed it's MOT and my 9 month old, 11,000 miles Toyo front tyres are almost illegal on the inside and the brakes are "uneven".

Recommend Autolusso (Dunstable closest for me) for the EGR delete, Swirl flap delete and generic / custom remap. All in I think £350-£500 depending on remap level (generic or custom). Check their website for more comprehensive pricing. Not a big deal, but running a dodgy EGR for too long will result in power loss and possibly the car losing complete power when it finally clogs up.

I'm also in Suffolk and in pretty much the same boat.

My 2.4 Brera runs lumpy on start up, I've cleaned the EGR, intake manifold, and inlet valve, and fitted a restrictor plate to the EGR.
Initially my lumpy start disappeared for a couple of days but is now back, so I'm thinking of fitting a blanking plate and having the EGR mapped out, I'm contemplating locking my swirl flaps open myself, as opposed to stripping the manifold off.

AutoLusso in Dunstable has also been recommended to me, but I plan to give Alfashop in Norwich a call for a price on mapping the EGR.
Ideally it would be good if there was some one in our area with Multiscan that could map out the EGR for us.
Blanking the EGR is easy and I'd be happy to help you with that if needed.

We can do EGR delete remotely so no need to travel

You can't do an EGR delete with Multiscan

Give me a call and I can talk you through it 01582 869560

I can fully recommend Alfashop in Norwich. They have offered great service to me and my 159 for (unfortunately for me) many things. Give them a call and speak to Philip, he's very helpful and knowledgeable.
