Well folks come to update the topic.

I was on holiday in the Algarve and was the first trip with the removal of the central silencer.

I thought it was worse, but the fact is that it does not appear intrusive. It is noted of course, but it is not of those things impossible to hear. Of course, when you step hard on the throtle, but with cc connected to steady speeds is bearable without problems.

I completed with this all over 66000km with the car and so far everything rolling smoothly, in fact is quite vigorous and full of soul, as you can see the video and photo ...... ) =))

Power measured without repro's. It is stock, and just as you know I have the least restrictive exhaust ....

Hug to everyone.

P.S: the video came later!

could you please clarify to me regarding central silencer removal. i watched video but what confuses me is that at first silencer is removed, then later welded back. does it mean the can was open, stuff from inside removed and can closed? any reason why not to use just straight pipe instead?
do you reckon removal of central silencer but leave of original back silencers will be sound improvement? surelly i do not want my car to be too loud, it is also family car from time to time, but I would like to gain better sound, could be bit more loud than now

Hello,

Yes i removed the tube inside aand replaced by one without holes with the diameter of the exhaust system (60mm) passing throught the box of the silencer. With this the mod looks like it's from factory.

About the sound only with the removing of the silencer and maintain the original back boxes i thing the sound improves a little bit. You will find on youtube some videos with people who made only this mod.

On my case i already change the original back boxes for ones of Novitec and the sound it's louder, but too much.

In my case it's my daily driver cars and family car and it's very good.

In my case all this mod is reversive, you can put the original tube on the silencer and the rear boxes.

very nice. also have 18" horseshoe alloys custom painted to dark (but with chrome effect).
by curiosity, did you go for 18" also for bit of extra comfort on daily driving, or it was exclusively decision on fact that you love alfa look of horseshoe alloys?

going back to mid silencer removal.cant find quickly youtube videos with such done on tbi, but will spend bit more time tomorrow .

I think because of the two, but most for the look. I always loved the horseshoe look.

And here one link with only silencer removed on tbi, but on Giulietta:

Thanks, but it is GQV. Even my wife's Giulietta 1.4TB 120BHP exhaust sound without any mods is way more sporty/meaty/loud than one in 159 TBI, so I would not compare 159 TBI to GQV as they on standard must also sound completely different (4C is also 1.75TBI and how it sound on standard exhaust). At least if there was comparison of with and wihout mid silencer, but no such thing. Hard to gain any feeling how that woudl be like.
I think I need to just try myself, hoping for good end effect.

Re your new alloys, hope you are also happy with how they look in daylight on your car.

Hello, the sound in the GQV and 159 TBI stock is very similar, thats why i sent to the video with Giu. I knew that the 1.4 TB is much more loud stock compared to the TBi.

The 4C has a completely different exhaust thats why it's sings brilliantly.

But i recomend that you remove the silencer and check if you like the modification.

Can you post a picture of how you fitted your EZ lip, I remember you telling me on youtube you would show me as there isn't much space on the bumper to stick it to at the corners.

Cheers.

Ahh so you basically follow the edge / contour of the bumper up to the corners and then begin sticking it to the front of the bumper instead of the under-side where there is not alot of material to stick it to?

Cool stuff, thanks for the info.

I'll post pics of my stealth tractor once completed

Due the fact i had a problem with my coolant tank, it broke one of the return tubes, in this caso the one with 90º .

Here some picks of what the mess that provoked. I had to order a new revervoir and here some pics of the tank already changed but with engine bay full of liquid, specially gearbox.
