Re: Has the 159 been a failure or is too early to tell?

Got a letter from Alfa UK today who seemed to think I was still a 156 owner. This enclosed a voucher adding £1000 to the trade-in value of my car should I buy a 159.Given that the car is so new, this would indicate to me that the 159 is in trouble in the UK at least.I would also be somewhat p*****d off if I had bought one in July this year as I originally planned to do

Just read on Quattroruote that the 159 and Brera will get (no date specified - probably late 2007?) the new 1.8 JTS turbo engine called the "rescue engine" for Alfa, given the current petrol units seem not to have the right performance/consumption profile.

I LOVE my GTA's glorious Alfa-produced 3.2 liter V6 and completely agree that what Alfa needs right now is (a few!) "rescue engines" to put Alfa back where it needs to (used to) be...

There was also mention in Autocar a couple of months ago that there was an intensive weight loss programme for the 159 being carried out.

Great idea, but the 159 just came out - why didn't they do that from the start?

It seems so. Sakis posted the same in one of his "sneak peaks" into the work Alfa is currently doing on its car line up. So better engines, lighter cars. Me likes

My chrystal ball says probably a year at least. I can see the lightening of the platform as a mid-cycle update before the facelift in 2009.
