Battery disconnection & charging help?

So due to the cold and not using the car much recently, me and the family piled into it yesterday, and it wouldn't start. Ended up walking, and putting the battery on charge. Thing is, it was pretty fiddly getting the battery out. In fact, I'm not sure I needed to disconnect as much as I did - i.e. all the extra bits (alarm connections, etc.).
  • Was there an easier way to disconnect it? Basically, if the battery is knackered (it's about 4/5 yrs old now) how do I get the alarm gubbins off the battery (circled yellow in photo.)
  • Secondly, you can top up some 'sealed' batteries to get more life out of 'em - any idea how to do it on this OEM Exide one?

Any help appreciated, as ever.

Yeap you made that harder than it needed to be.

In future undo the 2 phillips screws in the red plastic bar and lift it out, undo the positive terminal then that whole plastic tray with the fuses just lifts away.

Some on here have added tables to the batteries so I would assume you can top them up. The original batteries are around the £120 mark I think.

Your not adding tables but tablets, that typo had me googling to see what I had missed!

On sealed batteries they still have plugs under the stickers, you can hammer them off with a small chisle or similar put in tablets an replace plugs with new.

Using a voucher code get 30% off batteries with eurocarparts and a bosch s5 will be around £80
