Alfa 159 2007, faulty shockers

I am having problems with my Alfa. There is knocking on my near side wheel over uneven roads. I have taken it to the garage i normally use. he says that he cannot see and issues with the shocker or any thing else around the wheel. Any body had the same issue and may highlight this problem. Mechanic does not want to start changing parts for the sake of it without knowing if this is going to cure this issue. he has asked me to run it till it gets worse, but want to get it sorted ASAP. New shocker £200.00 i believe

Wish bones covered with (Car protect) warranty. £70 quit excess, so could be worse.
