Dreaded battery

Car in for its 4th year service on Monday, went to it today and put in the key, doors unlocked but when docking the fob in the dash there was a succession of lights but would not fire up. Did a disconnect battery reset and still no joy, when I pressed the button the info screen went blank.

Battery out and on trickle charge, when I lifted the cover, 3 of the cells were exposed so have topped them up and may drop some pills in tomorrow.

Made the mistake of locking the car after taking the battery out, this only locks the drivers door, so had to put it back in to lock up and then take back out again!

Hopefully will charge up enough to get me to garage on Monday (30 miles) as my recovery is not within 1 mile of house.....

If it's the original battery it has done well to last 4 years

I think Mrs LR159 may have knocked the hazard switch when she was sat in it last w/e and due to where it is parked they have drained the battery unseen. Anyway trickle charged it for 24 hours and put it on the pill and it restarted the car. The test is whether it holds the charge....
Funnily enough the battery lasted 8 years on the 147, but like I said, 3 cells on this battery were showing the metal and not fluid, so I think a new one may be on the cards.
