all the other garages round here are 139.9 to 141.9 .. aint seen any near the 136.9

the bp garage actually had a sign outside saying special jubilee price, thats why i quoted it

of course your 135.9 is even better.

Sutton Coldfield (near Brum), just paid £1.379 at the Shell garage. Same price as Tescos, and I have a loyalty card, so an ok deal.
Still cost £85.50 to fill up though. Grrr.........

Paying £1.10 a litre can only mean one thing, red diesel!

No, Red is illegal in a road vehicle.

This is completely legit and legal.

Red is legal during a fuel shortage (like in April) but you have to declare the tax.
I'm pretty sure you can run it every day too if declared...

isn't that only if you are licenced to do so with HMRC?

and unless there are exceptional circumstances they will not approve applications.

Simply applying because you want to won't cut it. and anyway then you would still be paying the tax on the fuel which would put the price up anyway.

Infact I've just checked with the HMRC and there's no dispensation to use red in a fuel shortage, especially the one in June where there wasn't actually a shortage, just a possibility of one.

I wouldn;t risk running red in any circumstances unless I was allowed to, the penalties are just too high.

Ok, this is starting to look like a thread hijack (which I wanted to avoid)

I'll start a new one shortly.
