guys im not much of a polisher \ waxer person but ive got some normal tcut in the garage which is my sons. On the back it says for metallic paint , use the metallic t cut.

Yes, don't use the traditional (red bottled) T-Cut on metalic paint. It won't damage it, and it will even probably remove your light scratches but it just isn't nice to use, it seems to clog on the laqcuer that your finish has and is very difficult to remove.
I must say, T-Cut is ok for an old car with flat paint but the world has moved on since then. I like the Farcela products and use G3 on scratches- it is quite harsh though so go easy !

T-cut metallic is a lot less abrasive than regular T cut, regular T cut was formulated for Cellulose finishes which oxidise rather rapidly if not taken care of.

It is an old skool product which is good for removing scratches, but is rather hard work. I wouldn't want to use it on a large area.

Don't bin it!!! It's great for cleaning up stuff like chrome finishes etc!

Normally some G3 etc on ebay.. which is usually the cheapest place to buy it. Halfords sell the Farcela range now, but you'll probably find it's a fair bit dearer.
Also, google Autosmart products- they are excellent

Try G10 first, G3 is one up from sandpaper !

What are you trying to cut away? These are all abrasives.

I too am new to polishing modern paints and only a short while ago was asking similar questions. If you want polishes now have a look at the Autoglym products - you will pay more in Halfrauds but you can pick them off the shelf.

If you start reading some of the "detailing" forums either here or at A world for detailers... you will learn more in a few hours than you thought ever existed when it comes to polishing paint and finding the best product for your paint and your colour - it seems some polishes are better onr dark colours and some are better on light colours.

For the final finish (if you aren't going to use a wax) then Autoglym super resin polish is great stuff.

And also have a read about "claybars." I used the Autoglym one on my wifes 159 and that smooth finish has to be felt to be believed. Be careful though as before you know it you have spent nearly £100 on paint finishing products!!!!!!

I used a Bilt Hamber clay bay from ebay for about a tenner,I couldnt believe how easily it removed the little bits of trea sap from the roof and even road tar from the bottom of the doors, it left the paint like new all ready for polishing and was so easy to use with just a bucket of soapy water so no trying to polish back off dried on t cut and no white residue on the plastics
