Got the 159 tbi, now what about sound?

Hey guys,

Just bought the 2011 159 sw tbi and I r e a l l y need to do something about the sound of the thing - I will do a remap in a few weeks to go up to 242 hp (the guys says he might do 250++).

However, sound image is dull, any recommendations that don't kill my ears or budget? I am thinking airfilter, straightening pipe / alternate exhaust delivery - I just want it to sound a little more aggressive....

Any tips well appreciated! :-)

Vroooooom....

Try AHM in Hertford. They have done a lot of work on the TBI engine. I think I am right to say that Turbos kill sound. Sorry, just noticed you are in Oslo!!!

Alfa spent a lot of money on 'noise, vibration & harshness' testing to get it that quiet. If you change one of the exhaust hangers to cheap rubber you'll get a nice vibration through the shell that will sound just like a new silencer.

Where will you make the ecu tuning? autodelta or alfa tuner ?

Try new exhaust mufflers.. and of course new metallic HJS cat..

I had quite some turbos before, but this one sounds like an electric milk steamer.... nothing. Such a great engine and car, but soooo little noise.

I am not too excited about the cheaper rubber vibrations idea, BUT, new exhaust mufflers are an idea - any recommendations that proove OK?

The remap will be done at a place called Chipsenter - they are purely Norwegian though.. but work with a German IT wiz to create software specifically for my tbi...

remapped and de-DPFd 159

air filter will give a nice induction roar.

who cares what the car sounds like when it looks as good as it does...
im sure a decat pipe and new muffler will give it a deeper, throatier sound, and a bit of power. but ultimately the turbo does kill the sound so you might get a loud whistle from the turbo...

still gona sound better than my tractor engine powered 159! haha
