How to clean the EGR valve on a 2.4 210

Hi All
Can anybody point me in the direction of the guide which Ive seen mentioned in a few posts but I cant find the thing??

Im having problems with the Brera stuttering and it seems to happening more frequently so i guess an EGR valve clean will be worth trying.
Any help much appreciated
Thanks
Andy

Ummm in that case your computer was knackered before you clicked those links....sendspace is 100% virus free, and those pdf's are the ones requested that I downloaded from the original links.

Note : you may have been idiotic enough to click one of the adverts l, which I can't vouch for but click regular download on the first page, then download file egrcleaning PDF on the second.

However they DO NOT have a virus. Neither my pcs or (irrelevantly my macs) have spotted anything wrong.

Cant decide took pool car

I had mine cleaned out during a service, the EGR wasnt too bad, must there was a load of soot in the throttle body area so that came off for cleaning too.

I have a EGR removal guide, but I will need an E-Mail address, I tried cleaning mine, as I was having enormous DPF/EGR issues on my Brera and the GT I was selling, the "mark 1" EGR had a solenoid design issue, in the end I got a new "mark 2" EGR, and all the problems went away

definately an easy job to do... only six bolts to remove in order to get the valve off

Just need to watch out that the bolts and gaskets do not drop into the engine bay!!!!, but seriously a new one is the best way, as even with cleaning if the solenoid is suspect, i.e stuck or sticking, you will need to go through the process all over again

This may be the Mark 1 version that has a flawed solenoid design, its false economy to buy these recon units

This would be a better bet, the VX ones are much cheaper than the AR brand!!!!

its exactly the same process for cleaning on the 1.9. Ive no guide to email but the EGR can be located attached to the rear right hand side of the inlet manifold if that helps.

If you need any pics of its location let me know and i'll be happy to help Ive had mine off a couple of times now and its really is a 10 minute job to remove/install the valve.... cleaning takes a little longer

On a 2.4 JTD 20v...
Tip for removing the bottom drivers side 10mm bolt on the EGR valve (the one that's awkward). I found an AF or ring spanner would slip. A deep socket would be ideal due to the tall thread that that support bracket attaches to, but there isn't space due to the power steering fluid reservoir.

Use a normal shallow socket. Put it on the bolt. Then attach the ratchet handle - it won't go on all the way, but you'll have enough of it engaged into the square drive that you can get the bolt turning!

Hope this helps someone!

Once the egr valve is off you can remove the 4 20 torx screws that hold the solinoide to the valve, lots of soot gathers around the solinoide push rod and then when its apart you can manually work the valve to get it clear.
Once it is clean it is a good idea to fit a partial blanking plate, one with a 9mm hole in it, it allows just enough flow so not to trigger a warning light but restricts the flow enough to help keep it clear.

Not as good as deleting the damm thing though
