Re: 159 / Brera / Spider tyre wear issues - VIP - Revised Information
Despite being abroad, I had a call from Nick today to say he'd received my letter / receipt for my tyres and he'll reimburse me as per our agreement
I put a lot of other constructive stuff in my letter which I also hope he'll consider and act upon

Perhaps you could share with us details of your set up:
Which wheels?
Which tyres?
What pressures?
How much toe-in/toe-out?
Thanks!

Hi. I dont have much information on the set up.
The first set were on the standard 17" wheels with Pirelli tyres.
I did 20k, then changed the tyres to Dunlop SP Sport 225/50/R17 which were superb.
I then upgaded to 18" 5 hole alloys with Pirelli tyres, which have now done around 16k and still have 6 mm left on them.
I've no idea what the tyre pressures are, or the set up, as Technicians say 'If it ain't ****ed, dont fix it', so I leave all that well alone !
Sorry all thats of absolutely no help at all, but I'm really pleased with my tyres, no issues with wear and 20+k per set seems good to me.

Re: 159 / Brera / Spider tyre wear issues - VIP - Revised Information
Just getting my tyres replaced now, at its 2 year service. They've done 24,000m and are evenly worn (f/r & s/s) and are still legal but were getting close.
Car as shown left (18" wheels)!

Re: 159 / Brera / Spider tyre wear issues - VIP - Revised Information
Dont know if this is the right place to ask this, but with tyre wear so related to tyre pressures, I was suprised that my local AR dealer had no pressure info for my Spider LE. A couple of days later i got a call to say use the same as a 159 on 19", eg 2.7 front and 2.5 rear. Have done so and they are now like concrete. Anyone got better info?

Re: 159 / Brera / Spider tyre wear issues - VIP - Revised Information
Oh boy, I'm glad I didn't spend more time on this forum before I ordered mine - it's enough to make an Alfa virgin retreat into celibacy.
Mine is Alfa contract hire, so cost of tyres doesn't bother me - just don't want wrangles in Kwik Fit when they're trying to get an order number.
Won't come as a surprise - my Golf GTi has only averaged about 10K per front set since it was new.

Re: 159 / Brera / Spider tyre wear issues - VIP - Revised Information
BTW getting my exhaust fitted on Friday and 'trying on' a pair of 245 35 19's for the weekend to see how they fit.
My 235 40 19's have about 2k miles left in the them. Car's now covered 15,000 on the 1st front set. Not bad and much better than my last 2 159's
Ive had advice to 'over pressure' the fronts and it's seemed to help.

Re: 159 / Brera / Spider tyre wear issues - VIP - Revised Information
So can you help guys. What is the concensus of opinion regarding reasonable expected mileage from the front tyres on the cars?
Had a 200bhp 2.4 159 on 18's - changed at 10000 miles.
Now a 210 bhp ti - changed at 9500 miles.
Is it worth/possible to put info into a poll?

Re: 159 / Brera / Spider tyre wear issues - VIP - Revised Information
I did use them that badly. To make things worse, i was driving on them high-speed long-runs when going back to Poland this summer. I was more lucky than smart. But you can clearly see how uneven the wear is. At the other hand, i dont experience any vibrations on the wheel neither there is any pulling to any sides, even when doing 145 miles/h.

No wonder there was no vibration - they're smoother than our lasses backside.
Warn me next time you're driving and I'll stay off the same road

Re: 159 / Brera / Spider tyre wear issues - VIP - Revised Information
I am afraid I have the dreaded tyre wear issue with my 3.2 V6 Brera see pics below (not very good...its dark).
Inner tread almost gone, outside edge still almost 5mm left
I have only done 7800 miles with the majority say 75% being town based driving (I am a Letting Agent so short journeys around urban/town areas)
Fortunately my Contract Hire with Maintenance deal includes tyres , I'll be calling the dealer tomorrow to get the tyres changed and the tracking checked.

I'm stunned!
I did over twenty-four thousand miles on my first set and they were still (just) legal when I changed them last month!
