Thumbs Up Look what happened the other day

Past the magic 10k miles.

The economy showing is after me booting it too so no where near as bad as it was (<20mpg was easily achievable).

This week is hovering around the 28mpg mark but I cannot say I've been restrained in any way

Cheers,

Re: Look what happened the other day

Similar thing has just happened to me in the Brera as well. Just gone over the 10k mark & mpg has increased by 2 or 3 mpg.(from 22ish to 24.5 ish, with no obvious other factor).
OK its not a lot, but every little helps!
Is this a normal thing?
Matt.

So you have noticed again the apparent 'auto-remapping' of the ECU then SR??

The car actually feels a little "flat" at the moment but economy is OK. The engine doesn't sound to clever at idle either

I always think there is something quite sad about tipping the 10k mark. Having a 4 digit odometer looks so pretty!

2.2JTS Spider, 26k on clock

Just done two long motorway trips. 480 miles yesterday and 365 miles today.

Yesterday did 471 miles to the tank, (65 ltr to fill up) and todays journey averaged 34.7 mpg over the 365 miles, and still a range showing of 117 miles! 26k on the clock and it keeps getting better.....by the time I reach the next service I'll never need to fill up again...lol

I hit 1000 miles the other day! I was quite impressed with that. Will have to wait at least a year to hit 10000.

Thumbs Up Re: Look what happened the other day

I went past and saw 11111 this week which was good to see because I hate it when you miss those milestones (pun intended) for example you look and see 11109 and then next time you look it is 11112!!

Already missed 11211 and 11311 but off to Pembrokeshire and back this weekend, about 550 mile round trip. Plenty of time to look out for other palindromic (word of day) numbers.

I remember when my last merc got to 200,000 miles I pulled over into a bus stop to photograph the odometer. I wonder if my 159 will get that far?

Of course, you could upgrade your Singer sewing machine engine to a 2.4 and get mid thirties and actually get somewhere fast

Simon,

Only joking mate. I love the 2.2JTS - great engine - plus no DPF issues! Hoping to move to the middle east shortly so Arese V6 on the cards asap.

Anyway....off to fire down a dozen Peroni's.....

Had a s**t week with the GT....boot release goosed now the wipers are up the creak. I love Alfa's but sometimes they send me up the wall....

Re: Look what happened the other day

My 1.9 JTDm is definately 'Loosening' up by running up the miles.
I bought it with 11000 miles on and the gearbox felt tight and the economy no good enough - now up to 18K and averaging 39MPG and the box is lovely and smooth (so to speak!)

Re: Look what happened the other day

So what is actually happening here? As soon as the car tips over 10K the ecu re-maps itself as it knows its loosened up enough and gives a few better mpg?

How accurate is the reporting screen?

We think that's the case AJ. The cars defo change character as the miles go on

As I said, I jump from car to car and never feel like mine is slow (not for one second suggesting it's anywhere near as quick as Clare's though)
