Depending on the model of BMW you are looking at BMW GB are pumping a lot of cash incentives to their dealers to shift stock. Discounts above 10% are readily available on top of these BMW incentives so your part-ex is probably being over inflated in the figures you are being shown. A friend of mine is currently looking at buying a new BMW and some of the cars dealers have tried to sell him have been sitting in stock since January Just be careful if you do go for one and make sure it is fitted with the efficient dynamics package if road fund licence in future years is a key consideration. Many of the cars lying around in stock are old models without it.

That's the cost of a whole other car !!

The problem that's hit the GT is that Alfa put out new ones so cheaply. I like the car and if it had Brera build quality it would be great but with 1970's Alfasud quality it just doesn't cut it. A great buy second hand though.... its good that Alfa build them with that used car feel
I wouldn't call the GT cheap, they want £22k for a jtdm q2 and I bet you won't get any discount, a dealer gave me a bit of bullsh*t they were selling out fast, what a load of b*llocks, you can still get a new blackline if you seach.

What Alfa is doing is increasing margin, little discount and sh*te px values. You wouldn't mind about the reduced discount if the used values held up, but they don't.

Alfa just want their cake and eat it. at the expensive of existing customers.

Re: Dealers Trade-In prices

Well, I appreciate all the suggestions and helpful comments about this; and having spent the best part of last week at work, ringing, emailing and running round various dealers, I've made my decision....
My local Nissan dealer was most accommodating, and gave me an extended test drive in a demo 350Z. I'd always liked the look of these, but never driven one. Wow! Outstanding, is my considered opinion. I loved it. But, the only new one they could sell me was in gorgeous black, with black and (what I can only describe as) bright orange leather interior - totally blinged the car out.
(If they had an all-black one available, I'm fairly sure I would have bought it on the spot......But they didn't, and couldn't tell me if/when theey could get one)
So, I trawled back and forth between the Alfa garages some more; by now I had eliminated the 159 Ti option, as it would be a tight fit in my garage; so it was just the Brera option. I do love my current 2.4JTDM engine, but the date for getting a new one the same, with my required spec, could not be confirmed. And it was more expensive than the S-V6. I got what I finally realised was going to be best figure for my car, from the dealer I was most impressed by, and signed on the dotted line..........Red Brera S-V6. No choices, no options. Simple choice.
I know I've said in the past on here, that red doesn't suit the Brera due to the Black Sky View roof. The S-V6 doesn't have this, of course, but the lighter weight panel it's been replaced by is........... black. Nice to know, when buying a new car, even grown men act like kids, without sense or reason. Long may that continue.

Best engineered car I ever had was a Nissan 200SX. Loved that car, had to go when kids were on the way.
It may be a good car but its a bloody Nissan.

Re: Dealers Trade-In prices

I am on my 4th Alfa. My current car is leased.
I don't think I will ever BUY another Alfa.

My first three were bought new, privately, and I lost a small fortune each time I traded in. The values were horrendous. And they were from the dealer I had always dealt with, who I thought might have wanted to keep me as a customer!

Good choice

350Z is a brilliant car, Nissan or not, but I reckon your Brera S will be similarly enjoyable.

@ Cooper - It's LA BELLE voiture mate......... I hope you don't have similar problems discerning masculine from feminine in other aspects of life
