Re: 159/Brera 2.4 Fuel Consumption

I see they also think the 320d's as quick as a 330i . That's about as bad as those on here that think a 1.9JTDm's as quick as a 2.4

At the end of the day fuel economy is not at the top of my list of priorities. It would be nice to have 40+mpg, but it's not crucial - the overall feeling I get when I'm driving/sitting in traffic/looking at the car is far more important. Beemers, from my experience, just don't cut the mustard from that point of view.

now who thinks that

1.9 JTDm is underrated on here.

It does need more power though but can easily get over 40mpg

Re: 159/Brera 2.4 Fuel Consumption

I have just taken a call from Theresa at ARUK, who told me:

1. There are no faults with my car (I knew that anyway).
2. That the cars are independently tested for fuel consumption by the Vehicle Certification Authority (not AR).
3. That she will put my points to Turin to see if they have anything to say.

I'm not expecting any progress, but we'll see.

That will be the "special" model with 165 tyres, no DPFs, no air con, no back seats and a full carbon fibre body. Kerb weight 1,100kg. "Yes, man with clipboard, they are all like this".

I average the magical 31MPG on my Qtronic too. Let's face it guys in less somebody gets a remap done and improves MPG to >40 we are stuck with this kind of performance on the 2.4 But really would any of us hand them back due to poor MPG - Really ????

Unless you got some unbelievable trade-in deal where you didn't actually part with any money it wouldn't make sense anyway. People spend thousands on a new car or lose thousands on their old one "because it's too expensive to run". Doesn't make sense unless you are doing a million miles a year. Same with the road tax thingy - £400 a year is a stinger, no doubt about it. But it's less than £8 a week. You are unlikey to get yourself into a new car for less than £8 a week!

So, no.

Grand total of £500 to change cars. Repayments the same as it is my finance. Fuel economy wasn't the only issue - the car was too big for my needs as well and the car tax thing. It's the not the only thing I have economised on it was part of an overall cost cutting exercise on my behalf due to present circumstances. It made sense for me to change cars, in the future I may have a bigger engined car again, who knows................

OK then I spoke out of turn - what I should have said is that I wouldn't part with mine even if it was only giving 10 MPG. Afterall diesel is still only a sixth the cost of lager

Re: 159/Brera 2.4 Fuel Consumption

Have to say I went for a blast on some A-roads last night. It was raining a light drizzle so the roads were slightly wet.

Anyway - 24.8mpg for a 36 mile trip

BUT - it was an absolute hoot. I defy any 2WD large estate car this side of £40k to drive better than that in those conditions. To those that say the 159 is too heavy - you are so wrong.

Back on thread - it was worth every litre
