Re: Under or oversteer on 159?

braking in the corner is best left for a race driver.... trail braking - basically loosens up the arse end in the corner.

otherwise as per previous posts - brake, change down (ideally heel and toe to match gbox and engine speed so not to lock the driving wheels).....then turn

if you really want to learn over/understeer spend £270 on a forest rallyday - you'll learn so much in one day!

To get oversteer out of a modern RWD car is hard, they're all set-up to understeer as well. And then even if you do get a bit of oversteer, more likely than not the traction control and electrickery reigns the car back in for you.

RWD sports cars though, they are another story! Even had a go in an RX-8 or MX-5? Those cars are very nicely set-up, but will oversteer with only a tiniest bit of provokation
Yes, I agree Pud and nearly put something to that effect in my post - must've forgotten.

Been out in a mkI Elise and an 04 Carrera in the last year which were fun but I didn't really have an opportunity to push the Porker's limits. Colleague's Scooby (hasn't offered me a drive ) always feels a bit nose led from the passenger's seat but he isn't that good a driver so I'm not sure about it.

Never driven the Mazda sports cars or an M3 but would love to have a go.

I'd love a go in an Elise. Never driven such a potent little beast. Porsche's are good, I love the 944 for some reason. I wouldn't mind a 928 either if I could get one in manual. Not driven a new one, there's no Porsche dealer nearby. But in my 5 short years of driving I've been out in a massive amount of cars, as when I turned 17 and passed my driving test, every saturday afternoon I would go to a dealer suited and booted and blag a test drive in their most potent car. Often they'd just hand over the keys and let me go by myself. You just had to pretend you were some rich kid or had £30k inheritance to splash and they'd crawl over hot coals to let you test drive one of their cars

What a hobby, haven't done it for two years though, last time I did I got out an Audi TT 1.8 turbo 225bhp, I came back and said it was no quicker than my JTD, what else you got and they handed me keys to a £20k E46 M3 with paddle shift.. That was a good hour

You should have a drive in an M3, they are awesome cars! Mazda 6 MPS is quality too, you'd like one of them

Weekend toy: Alfa 156 3.0 24v V6, Silver with red leather, Q2 diff, GTA Teledials, headlights & inlet manifold, AutoDelta carbon intake, BMC CDA, decat pipe and SuperSprint rear box, FK coilovers, Dastek Unichip - my 245bhp beast!

Gone but not forgotten: Alfa 156 2.4 JTD Veloce, Vela Blu, Angel 'mad map' & BMC CDA, Ferodo DS2500s - the fastest tractor in town!
