Re: New Prodrive Brera S
Rather a lot of press for such a small amount of change... and the Brera isn't even a sporty car!

Re: New Prodrive Brera S
A bit surprised at the negativity towards this, given that:
a) we don't really know exactly what changes they've made
b) we've no idea what effect these changes have had
Personally I'd like to try it (or at least read a couple of road-tests written by people who have tried it) before writing it off as style over substance.

Re: New Prodrive Brera S
Definitely would like to hear more about it, but I guess any negativity is actually caused by Alfas huge delay in releasing a potent 159 based car - and not really aimed at Prodrive who I think most people would regard very well .
I guess folks had got some hopes up on this one, but since the project was scaled back to not include engine mods and (apparently and inexplicably) with no mechanical diff then people are still feeling like they would like a genuinely fast 159.
This could still be a cracker of course, it depends on what they have done and maybe there could be real sportyness in the setup - but it does seem rather constrained in scope at this point..

I'm not a doctor - but I really do recommend braking later

Re: New Prodrive Brera S
Well, we do know about the removal of the AWD, some weight saving and the fact they didn't touch the engine.
All in all, expectations were perhaps a bit too high hence the negativity.

Re: New Prodrive Brera S
Apparently the dealers are all off to Prodrive tomorrow night for the launch presentation and then a they get a day to hoon around the test circuit on Thursday which sounds like fun
I'm going to have a chat with mine on Friday to find out what the confirmed final spec is and get his views on how it drives.

Re: New Prodrive Brera S
If those details are correct (ie no AWD on the V6) then the weight must have come down, as will the tranmission losses. Therefore it must be faster. I'm guessing that the PR people who have written this press release may have got thier numbers wrong. Either that, or the Prodrive V6 is still AWD.

Weight of the 2.2 is down by 35Kg and 100Kg on the 3.2, cars will be no quicker just feel more sporty due to the suspension changes.

Re: New Prodrive Brera S
Sounds nice but different enough to entice buyers?

How will they be no quicker if they are lighter?
Also, less play in the suspension means less energy lost as the car's nose rises under acceleration.
