re: 2.2 JTS hesitation - now with new IMPORTANT information & escalation details
I have the same problem but a guy up the road from me also has a 159 and no lurch.
How much does the Auto Delta re-map cost and where is Jano based?
I can just about put up with the lurch and learn to control it but my wife can't!

I wait with great anticipation.
I had a call form ARUK (after writing to them numerous times), the chap was very apologetic. They have received many complaints. The problem has been escalated to UK and Italy design offices. Will take time to assess the fix against various UK and European compliances. Hopefully, something will come out in the near future (a few months). And yea, the warranty will be invalidated by a 3rd party fix.
Lets see..........

re: 2.2 JTS hesitation - now with new IMPORTANT information & escalation details
Sounds like they're just stringing people along.
How can it go from "There's no problem, That's how it
drives, accept it." to "Ooohh we may have a problem!" ?
The engines will be phased out in January(?) they are
not going to bother fixing this.
The cars will be out of warranty first anyway. (Mine already is )

They are going ooohh! we may have a problem cause so many of us have written strongly to ARUK. They can ignore a problem if no one stands up to speak, not if many are making a point about it in writing.
Mine still has 1 year 7 months of warranty left. And am not going to wait forever for them to sort it out. A few months means exactly that to me and if I dont get results, will escalate the issue if required. For now I will wait and watch... (only for a couple of months).

Anyone got the Address of ARUK? I would happily write too since I am also experiencing this hesitation problem (unsurprisingly)! Is there a particular department you write to? My dealer said that it was "normal".
If you post the contact details, maybe more people could write? It wouldn't hurt...

Write to this address. It goes directly to Customer Relations and you will get a quicker response. The chap who called me yesterday gave me this email address.

re: 2.2 JTS hesitation - now with new IMPORTANT information & escalation details
Well, I finally E-mailed Alfa Customer Services and today, a chap called Ben called me back. We talked about the problem and he went off to speak to the "technical team". Came back and assured me that Alfa know about this problem and that they are working on a fix for it. I asked when it would be available and they said that it should be ready at the end of the Summer.
It may have been that they were trying to get rid of me but at least I have a case number now and I will chase this up in a few weeks to check on progress.
Here's hoping!!

I had a call from customer relations today, in addition to the email response so far, and been assured that a fix is on the way. I was advised that I am now on the list to be kept informed of progress. I asked how many were on the list and it was only five!
Come on folks, if we want to push this thing forward more people need to be contacting AR.

re: 2.2 JTS hesitation - now with new IMPORTANT information & escalation details
Hi
I think I spoke to the same guy. He seemed very helpful. It took sometime for him to acknowledge that there appears to be a problem and it seems that they don't know how many cars are affected.
Allam's (who have been very helpful as a dealer, too) are taking my car back on Tuesday. I've told them about the hesitation, lurching, flat spot or whatever we want to call it and something else, too.
I'll see what they have to say.

I have a case number too. Took my car for a check up as suggested by ARUK, to Northgate Alfa (good dealer by the way), who have since acknowledged the flatspot/hesitation. Will wait and see what happens..

re: 2.2 JTS hesitation - now with new IMPORTANT information & escalation details
FYI. I heard today off a very good source that AR Holland buy in the AD map and do it for free on all affected 159 2.2's It's an official resolution for the hesitation problem
So, could be of use for communications with ARUK

I *think* it's still there in the LE Spider, but I'm getting so used to driving around the issue. Certainly I've not been struck by any differences compared to the 07 engine.

re: 2.2 JTS hesitation - now with new IMPORTANT information & escalation details
Took a 2.2 out for test drive before I bought the 3.2. I thought it was slower than the old 156 2.0 T-Spark I had, low down gears were poor and only excelled at high revs in 3rd and then into 4th. Could not live with it so waited a year to get the 3.2. Still getting used to the gearing!

Got to agree with you on this one, that's exactly why I thought my car must have a fault, 10% more capacity and less torque just didn't seem right. Can't believe I didn't notice on the test drive but I guess you overcompensate a bit driving an unfamiliar car for a short period.

re: 2.2 JTS hesitation - now with new IMPORTANT information & escalation details
Think I said something about gearing elsewhere - something isn't "right" with the performance in 1st and 2nd and I can't think what it is, except gearing. Maybe it is the relative lack of torque. Did someone mention there's a rev limit to 1st gear?
Like CSOD said, 3rd and 4th and the car comes alive.
Ran Sid, don't forget the 2.2 has 185BHP, around 20% more power than the 2.0 TS.

First gear is too long, second too short (V Max c57mph on the limiter).

I got the same feeling from testdrivning Brera and Spider 2,2, that my old 156 SW and the GTV had more power in 1st and 2nd. Got a GT instead, and are happy for now (partly bacuse the dogs fit better). If you guys can solve the problem, I just may join you in the Brera lounch quite soon!

I got a letter yesterday confirming the conversation I had with Alfa UK, 2 weeks ago, nice to know they are on the ball.
The letter was dated 14/06 but I didn't get until 26/06, nice to know they are rushing to sort the problem.

re: 2.2 JTS hesitation - now with new IMPORTANT information & escalation details
My car is still back at Allams who called me yesterday to say that they have spoken to Alfa UK and because there is no solution yet, there is nothing they can do.
I said that this isn't good enough. The car doesn't perform the way it ought to. Allams have been great and were trying to speak to Ben Head at Alfa UK yesterday to see what he had to say. Cearly, Alfa UK don't want to pay for a re-map, though!
