re: 2.2 JTS hesitation - now with new IMPORTANT information & escalation details
In any car I drive I'd bring the revs up a little before i drop the clutch. No trouble getting away quickly in 159 right through rev band and it hasnt be remapped. When I got the car first I found it "lept" forward with the same trottle input as my old 155 I put this down to the cable-less trottle having a differant "feel" and sure enough I can now drive the car without any issues. I have to say I think the 2.2JTS engine is superb, its has used no oil todate, revs freely and is getting better and better in that respect and has huge in gear power from 2nd to 3rd.

I've just had acknowledgement from ARUK and been advised how "seriously" they take customer feedback. I'll keep the forum posted as to the response when Customer Services make the promised contact.
By the way, NordicI55, do you work for ARUK?

I had one standard email response from ARUK asking me to contact the nearest dealer. I spoke to the service engineer who confimred that the 2.2 JTS engines are not "smooth" and the hesitation is a well reported problem. I wrote back to ARUK stating this about 8 days ago and had no response. So resent the email, and still no response. This is very poor customer support!!
I dont want to leave this issue to die without a result. And yea Nordic do you work for ARUK??

Don't even live in the UK!!! and don't work in Car Industry or any associated Industry. An Irish Alfista, just giving my experience with 159 2.2JTS..."fly by wire" did take a bit of getting used too but now I am familar with it I'm happy with how the engines pulls. Strand over my comments about 2.2 being an excellent engine..no oil used in a year/8k, very strong in gear acceleration. My wifes 1.4Twin Spark, as much as I love the TS engine, uses a litre of Selenia HPX every 1k!!!

Good man Rosso!!
I got a call from some company (cant remember the name) doing a follow up regarding AR customer service quality. This was regarding the inital warranty query I had. But I used this opportunity to have a right moan about how I still havent had a response to the query about the hesitation issue. The guy spent 20 minutes on phone going through various aspects of how happy/not I am with ARUK customer services. I made sure this is fed back to AR (probably italy) as the chap seemed to have an American/foreign accent.
Hope AR take this issue of 2.2 hesitation seriously.

Any chance this re-mapping might become available in Australia?

re: 2.2 JTS hesitation - now with new IMPORTANT information & escalation details
I've had a call from Alfa tonight, very apologetic in not responding sooner and thanking me for pointing them in the direction of the poll, implying that they didn't realise it was such a problem. Have advised me that they will now contact Italy and that it may take a couple of months before there is a fix.
I wait with great anticipation.

re: 2.2 JTS hesitation - now with new IMPORTANT information & escalation details
I have now had a reply from Alfa UK, to my letter, there responce after confiring with the dealer who serviced the car, and checked the engine, was that is how Alfa Romeo intended the car to drive, hesitation and all I presume? and would not be offering any remap, and if I wanted to go to a independent dealer, ie Auto Delta for a remap that was fine, so from the imformation I received they intend to do absolouty nothing, no mention of contacting Italy? a bit like the tramlining problems, find the best settings to suit , and sort it yourself.

London area
AUTODELTA
I think its about £400 to £500
Gains are about 12-15BHP.
Its more about drivability than power increase, Nev swears by it.

Great work Tony. Let's see what happens. We'll be running 2 x 2.2 JTS engines from the end of this month, it'd be great to get a fix for the wife's car asap.

Can't believe I've only just spotted this thread, having posted before a few times on this issue
Anyway, I've voted.
BTW, Autodelta were exploring the possibility of installing the remap at Mangoletsi for northern drivers, but nothing came of the idea.

It may well be a little tricky for a well known and established Alfa main dealer to offer what is a non factory approved fix.

This is true, but Mangoletsi is a hell of a lot closer for me, and I would think a good many. Then heaving to go to the Big city.

Mangos are the Autodelta delaer in the north, and it was Jano who was going to be doing the programming.

Now had further response saying that the technical team in Italy are aware of the problem and are reviewing. Suitably vague as to any time or projected outcome. I've asked for further clarification and a name for someone with authority on the matter.
Bloody hell, I sound like "Disgusted, of Cumbria" on points of view!

I'll third that!! My dealer told me today that this is how the car is meant to be - hesitation an' all!! It's all part of the Alfa charm. Having said that, if we can put pressure to bear to get an Alfa fix then I'll be first in the queue!
