Replaced discs and pads, now brakes are poor!

I have a 155 V6 and have just replaced discs and pads all round. I have gone for grooved discs and fast road pads. Prior to doing this the brakes were excellent, but simply worn out. The brakes now seem very poor with a lack of response. I have tried getting them warm, but this seems to have no effect. Any help would be appreciated!

Are the calipers seized at all? What brakes did you go for? And what pads?

Probably a stupid question but did you clean the discs off thorougly to get the protective oily coating off them? Have you got oily fingers all over the pads?

I know mountain bike hydraulic disc systems take a good while to bed in and get the ful stopping power, fresh pads with fresh discs feel horrible for the first few rides - is this the same with performance car brakes?

I must admit, I think Dibby might have a point. When I replaced mine (2.0 155) I used EBC performance brakes, but not grooved ones. They took a while to bed in properly but now they stop the car perfectly

How long have you had them on the car, I'd say allow at least a 300-500 mile period to bed them in correctly. If you still have a problem then, then it may well be siexed callipers or something sticking. I presume you cleaned out the pad carriers as well, these can cause all sorts of problems on new brakes

Hope it all works out for you mate

You need to give new brakes 200 miles to bed in.
