Blasted car is not entirely fixed.
I did 60 miles today, it was perfect, best it has ever been. Smooth idle, good power, no problems.
Then, 2 miles from home it started misfiring, then cut out and would not restart. Got towed home by the wife. One it had cooled down, it stated again. Crank sensor? I had a spare so I swapped it. Car now dead. Swapped it back. Still dead. Damn.
Ok. Check for fuel and sparks. Loads of sparks. Fuel? Zero pressure. Pulled the fuel pump relay, swapped it out. Pressure. Ran perfectly. Swapped the new crank sensor back in. Dead. No fuel pressure. Reseated fuel relay. Got pressure, engine fired. OK, must be something in the relay plug. Pulled it apart, looked perfect. Doused it in contact cleaner. Got pressure. All fine.
So I now have a car that works, but I am not sure why. Don't trust it at the moment. I have a full toolkit in the passenger foot well, and enough cable to hotwire the fuel pump direct from the battery if needed.
