155 Front caliper sticking

Can anybody help? My calliper on my 155 V6 sticks occasionally when driving along. It sticks quite bad as it slows you down considerably. A sharp 'dab' on the brakes normally stops this. Is there a service kit available for this calliper? Also is the V6 caliper the same as a 2.0 or 1.8? Has anyone got a caliper?

as hammer says but also check the flexi's they are prone to breaking down internally creating a one way valve effect stopping the caliper from releasing properly

Re: 155 Front caliper sticking

Yes.. if you're going to take the brakes apart to overhaul them, use the opportunity to fit new hoses (ideally braided ones) as the hassle is bleeding it all afterwards (which you're going to have to do anyway) rather than the dismantling.

There is a caliper seal kit available but it's a bit dear for what it is.. You get some new o-rings and new grease for the sliding bolts.

I would consider buying new sliding bolts too (£7 each! but you get new bellows too) as the old ones only have those little rubber bellows to keep water and **** out.. so they get rusty and stick, which may be causing the problem.

You have to take the old pins out (they just slide out) clean out all the crud and old grease from the holes with contact cleaner etc. then emery paper your old bolts till they're smooth and shiny again (but preferably fit new ones as they have an anti-friction coating).

When you squeeze the caliper on the brake disc by hand, the pins should slide freely in and out.

What Ralf S said. If however you suspect the pistons/seals, pop 'em out, carefully, with an airline, and inspect the seals/pistons and bores. Kits may be available. Don't forget a 'smiggin' of rubber grease on re-assembly, no mineral grease near the seals though, only the specific rubber grease. Don't have to use this, but I do, mainly from habit!:
