About a year back, I had my brakes sorted by a chap who I used to trust with working on my car but have recently found he is a knob who rips people off.
The initial problem was that with the car started the brake pedal would just go to the floor. Engine off, and there seems to be pressure there. The so called mechanic could not find the problem and proceeded with replacing calipers, discs, hoses etc (at my expense ofcourse!)
which was not curing the problem.
I know what I am doing with a car but just didn't have the time to fix it myself as was in the middle of buying a house. I explained time and time again to him that it would most likely be the master cylinder. He first said it was inaccesible and that it's a 'strange' design
and after my pestering, he apparently had changed the seal in it. When I went to collect the car (for the 4th time) I could feel pressure on the pedal which was not 100% but felt ok, and was able to stop the car sharpish.
For about 10 months it has been ok-ish and now the same thing has happened again. I would like to change the master cylinder but can't find one for sale anywhere. Does anyone know where I can get one and has anyone else had a problem like this which they can give me some advice about please? Is the cylinder easy-ish to change from underneath as I assume it's close to the pedal in the engine bay
As ever, look forward to your replies and thanks in advance.
