Yeah, it's where the front pipe meets the manifold. I think because it's free to move about, any sealer put on the joint (I've had it done a couple of times) just gets worked loose. The mechanic who swapped the front pipe put an exhaust clamp around the exhuast (behind the plate) which is bolted via a bar to the back of the block. However this still allows small sideways movement of the exhaust compared to the engine itself instead of keeping it steady and transfering any movement (e.g. under revving, small engine rotation) to the flexible pipe by the cat.
