The fuel filter is under the car, about where the middle rear seat passenger would put their right foot. It's under that plastic cover ahead of the offside rear wheel.
It looks like a small tin can (it's made of aluminium I think) with a big 17mm nut at each end where the fuel pipe union is.
If your beast is firing okay, then check the fuel and injectors. Disconnect one of the fuel pipes on the fuel rail and see if fuel comes out when you turn the beast over. It could be the pump or fiulter or the fuel-pump relays etc are dicky.
Fuel pump relay is identical to the Lamdba relay so you can try a quick swap to see if that makes a difference. They're under the plastic box cover next to the steering fluid reservoir dog.
