If it starts, can you keep the engine running by giving it a bit of gas .. (i.e. it just doesn't idle) or does it die regardless?
Check that fuel is being delivered - remove the fuel hose to the fuel rail (left hand most one, I think) and see if fuel comes out when you crank the engine). Take care when you remove the hose (it's fuel under pressure.. you'll end up eating some) and also place a container under the hose to catch any fuel that comes out (as it should) , when you crank it. Cold engine and no smoking etc.
If you have fuel coming out, then the problem is not fuel. It can only be the injector circuit or the ignition/coils (assuming no mechanical problem).
