Re: Fuel vapour recovery purge valve
There are no signs of any external leakage from the fuel system. The hoses on the injector rail were resealed by me a while ago as they did leak slightly when I got the car. The smell is only there when the car is hot, and I sort of traced the smell to the driver side wing area.
When the smell was occuring I did remove the pipe that goes into the carbon cannister and there was a lot of pressure coming from it, and lots of fuel smell, but the other pipe that leads from the cannister was shut.
The valve on top of the cannister was also emmitting a strong fuel smell, as I suppose the vapour were collecting in the cannister until the excess vapour came from the valve as it had no other way of escape if the valve is shut.
I did try removing the pipe that leads to the plenum and the car runs the same as with it connected. I sort of expected this as the valve is in effect blocking the pipe.
