The chain typically never has to be replaced, but it might need tightening. I think the suggested interval for tightening is 50k?
It's not a hard job, you just need to lacte the 14mm bolt that secures the tightening spring, that can prove to be the biggest hassle.
It's located on the side of the engine, about 20cm down, under the engine support near the strut top.
To tighten the chain:
- run the engine up to temp
- stop the engine, and put into 5th gear
- undo the bolt so the tensioning spring is free to move
- push the car forward a couple of feet (10 will be plenty) and make suire it doesn't roll back.
- tighten the nut
