Help Exhaust bracket

I was driving home last night in the Dark and heard a strange clanking whilst moving. Looked under the car to see the bracket that holds the exhaust to the engine sump was hanging down along with a cable.

the car is 2l 8valve. Does any one have any experience of this bracket and what the cable might be ie is it part of the bracket or something else? I haven't had time to look under the car yet as have to work this morning, will hopefully get time this pm to check. If the bracket is damaged is it a part that a normal exhaust place will stock or will i need to order one from Alfa?

Any help much appriciated

Re: Exhaust bracket

The cable could be the lambda sensor, but it is located further down the exhaust than that bracket.

Re: Exhaust bracket

Cable will be from the Lambda sensor.
There should be a bracket just prior to the cat, it's probably this that has come adrift.

Re: Exhaust bracket

Luckily it was just the way the bracket was broken and stretched (was very rusty), my local garage swapped it for a Ubolt, (and one further down the exhaust) and showed me in the pit that the Lambda was still ok. They wouldn't accept payment either .

PS the Lambda screws into the top of the exhaust pipe (quite a few inches further down the pipe) so shouldn't get caught by the road or speed bumps without distroying the exhaust itself first.
