Yep.. the offset is the distance between the hub face and the centre of the wheel, so the bigger the offset, the further in the wheel sits.
Positive offset has the hub face closer to the outside of the wheel.
A 32mm fills the rear arch but depending on the size of tyre you're planning, it may be too much for the front arch. I did think about getting wheels with different offsets front and rear to get the cosmetics just right but that'd be a bit of a logistic nightmare when it came to tyre rotation etc.
Most wheels have the ET number stamped on them, so you can guestimate what a changed offset will look like.
