Alfa 155 sump plug stripped + other queries
Hello one and all,
I recently bought an Alfa 155 1.8 16V with a disintegrated cambelt tensioner. I aquired a s/h head and it's fitted and she runs again, however there a couple of small problems. Firstly the engine had a bit too much oil in it and when the sump plug was taken out it was clear that the threads had picked up and partly stripped. Is this a common thing or was the previous owner hamfisted. Anyone used helicoil on an alloy sump ?
Second thing is that the new head didn't have a tapping for the coolant sender (gauge one) again any suggestions. Lastly can the injector light be reset DiY or is it a garage job ?
I tried following the instructions for getting the fault code to no avail, but I guess the timing going astray big time and or the battery being off are the likely causes, as she runs fine and went through an MoT today so emissions ok too.
Thanks in advance and for the tips that I've already picked up here.
