cat off or cat on

hi all again

when i change my exhuast i was wondering if any body has put a pass pipe in place of the cat, then that way i can place it back at mot time and aslo thought make the cat last longer as i wasn't using it.

i'd just be intersted to know if anyones done it and if its advisable to do so or is it a waste of time having no benifits what so ever,

Re: cat off or cat on

You'll gain a few HP, and possibly get a little better mileage if you put a pass pipe on.

Downside is you'll pollute more, but I bet still well inside legal limits. I don't even put the cat back on to go to MOT. Passes anyway...

Re: cat off or cat on

I ran my Silverstone with a decat.
The low down torque was noticeably better (noticed the difference more when I put the cat back on).

The car actually sounded nicer with the cat ON though. I had a Powerflow zorst. With the cat it gave a nice fizzy rasp, without the cat it was more of a "BWOOOOAAAAAAR"
