was gonna post this on the general discussions but cant find the forum? whats the crack with that? anyway not sure of the best action to take with the 155, the thing is the gearbox is just about dead and rather than spend a load of money fixing it ive decided to cut my losses with it and buy my mothers 156! bit of a tearful decision 3 happy years with the 155 come to an end was my first car and im already and alfa addict!! anyhow i need to get rid of it in a couple weeks time, other than than the gear box its in excellent condition and its never let me down, so in your opinion guys do you think there is anyone around here that is likely to buy this car off me? its a 155 1.8 8v 94, 154k on the clock has a nice set of 15" 100+ alloy wheels probly worth 100 on their own. Or do I take it down the local scrappy!
yeah but after labour costs and tax and all that i'm looking at 300 - 400 quid surely, im no mechanic but i know fitting a gearbox is no easy task! But still worth looking into i suppose wheres the best place for a cheap gearbox?
The gearbox should take less than 5 hours to change. Assuming you go to a local independant, and that they won't even have to change the gearbox oil due to the bolt on driveshafts, I'd say your looking at £150- £200 for the change+ whatever a gearbox costs. BTW are some Tipo boxes the same?
