Marlon, I just had a look on my 8v...Proberly not want u want to here but i also have an rectangle hole , i'm guessing this is to find TDC on the flywheel like an inspection (Saves raming a screw driver down no 1 piston!!)
There is no oil here the only way oil can get through, is through the input shaft seal inside You say it's pouring out... This says that the seal has popped.. out and is not just leaking slowly....... So it might be possible for the seal to be replaced without splitting the gearbox...Just by splitting engine and bellhousing. Bad but could be worst!!!.... My legs and arms are crossed hoping i'm wrong and it something simple...
I have Jason77 here with me just now and we have both come to the conclusion it's the thrust bearing seal that has gone. Yes it can be changed just by seperating the engine and bellhousing. I'm gonna get our local ex-Alfa race team expert super mechanic ex-Ford racing driver the job.
The parts disc doesn't show a plug for the hole in the picture, but if there was one it would only be to stop the dust from the clutch going everywhere. It also looks like your going to have to replace the thrust bearing sleve as on the parts CD I can't find a seperate seal but it's not that expensive.
Cheers Speedy. We concluded that you were right. I'm gonna get someone else to do it. About 1 mile away is a garage run by an ex Alfa race team member and has done stuff for Jason77, Mr T and Honkeytonk who would all bend over and let him pump them as apparently he is very good.
Well the car goes in on Thursday for a stripdown and investigation
Then the parts will be ordered (assuming it can be fixed) and then put back together. I reckon the car is gonna be on the operating table for a few days
