It was the little variable doodah that drives the speedo needle that was faulty. It has a bi-metallic (I think) strip which is coiled. As voltage is applied, it uncoils and moves the needle.
Anyway, took the part out of the Silverstone and the speedo is now working properly. I just now have to set the needle properly as I had to remove this to do the swap and setting it back is a prob seeing as the readout starts at 10mph. I think I'm close though.
30mph in 5th at ~1400rpm
60mph in 5th at ~2800rpm
does this sound correct for you V6 owners ????
Oh yeah, now the petrol light keeps coming on even though the tank is full I wonder if I've buggered the petrol guage too, I seem to have had a full tank for a while now
My car won't reach 7000rpm
The limiter cuts in at about 6600rpm, I keep bouncing it after the Silverstone which would rev to 6800rpm.
I've adjusted the needle to read 90mph at 4000rpm in top. I'll test this against Jasons car soon. I went through a speed camera today in a 50 zone with my speedo reading 50mph. It didn't set the camera off..........PHEW !!!!
mine is pretty close to the 6500rpm mark. Took me by surprise. Was overtaking in 2nd and next thing the car popped and farted. I forgot it didn't have a chip and wouldn't rev as high as the Silverstone. Problem is, even in 3rd it zooms up to the limiter , I keep hitting it when overtaking stuff !!!!
the speedo on my car now seems to coincide with what other cars are doing. It'll read 30-32 in a 30 zone when following somone and following on the motorway (they are mostly ladyboys here), the speedo reads 70-80mph. I'm sure it accurate now and I went through the speed cameras again (in a 50 zone) at 52(ish)mph and still didn't set them off.
I'm a happy man....................for now...................
