Drove to Dundee and back this weekend in the V6 (about 100 miles).
I was travelling at 70 - 80mph but was tanning everything on the road.
My wife commented that we were going way too fast. No way...look at the speedo...................
Anyway, we did a couple of tests today. I followed my wife at preset speeds on local roads and motorway.
Wifes Speed/My Speed
30 / 30
40 / 35
70 / 50
That means we were probably doing 100mph on all the time.
What should I check ???
It has a brand new speedo sender unit and teflon drive gear.
I think that test just tests that it work and moves according to the speed applied...not necessarily whether it's accurate or not, i.e. do you know how fast the drill is turning and what that represents in rpm? Hope I'm wrong.
I did those tests to find out why the speedo wasn't working in the first place.
Using a drill at 2500rpm, the speedo reached 90mph. Dunno what the voltage was as I was just testing to see if the thing would work.
Hopefully it's the instrument cluster. Other than that I'm goosed
