Revs at idle on the twinny have always had this annoying habit of rising and then dropping a fraction when you pull to a stop. Not a major issue but one that would be easy to sort......or so I thought!
Undid the two torx bits, sprayed in the injector cleaner and put the unit back together. Started ok so off I went for a hard earned beer.
Next day SWMBO sez it has a funny feel to it, kinda throbbing (the engine!). I gets in an she's right, its throbbing
Fetched the actuator off again tonight, more sprayng and put it back together again......still doing it
Any idea's guys 'n' galls? Really don't want to stick a new bit on the car as its life span is nearly expired anyway
Well...gasket on, actuator cleaned again and oiled but it's still making with the lumpy idle. Strangely, the rev counter isn't moving but the engine is ...and if I open the door, it can be seen to jig up and down.
SWMBO reckons it has only done it since I played with the actuator but I'm wondering if it has anything to do with the exhaust session last week. There is a slight blow from the joint just after the cat...but have had holes before with no result like this.
Are you sure the car isn't over-fueling ???
When the pressure regulator went on the 8v, the car sometimes revved up and down at idle and sometimes it had a very slow almost cutting out lumpiness. When it was very lumpy, the rev counter was steady.
How does the AFM work on the 16v ????
Could it be that causing over-fueling ????
Also try resetting the ECU by disconnecting the battery etc
