Starting problem - flooding?
1997 UK 2.0 16V
I'm having some issues starting the car.
If the engine doesn't catch first time, it is a real pig to start. It has happened four times now, twice in the last two days. It is like the car has flooded, and needs to be cranked for about 30sec (in bursts) with the throttle wide open. After a few splutters it will idle roughly for about a second then idle perfectly.
Does the TS engine have a habit of flooding (or equivalent)?
Funny thing is that it only happens mid-late morning, and only on the first start of the day. Early morning is fine. As far as I can remember all days were dry and warm - ruling out damp problems. Otherwise, all normal noises (fuel pump, starter, etc). Battery is strong.
I did wonder if the sun over the last few days was warming the engine or fuel lines before starting, causing the problem.
Any ideas? Am I the only one? Any solutions?
