Just bought a splendid 96' 155 2.0 16v for not allot of money!!!
But anyway back to my point; before it was bought and mot'd I was following the 155 to a garage and I noticed the n/s rear wheel was vibrating up and down (like you see Ford Escorts on motorways with worn shocks).
It flew it's mot, even when I mentioned the possibility of a worn shock.
The handling is dire on poor surfaces; I know how to get the rear end out on a front wheel drive car (no handbrakes! that's cheating) but this Alfa has got a whole new approach to the idea!
Since having read articles on the subject of poor handling 155s in this forum I now realise the problem lies with worn suspension arm bearings!
Can anyone tell me from where I can purchase some new bearings?

Are you holding your breath ?
Including the riddance of a scruffy but faithful 416gti in on the deal....... £1300
Driving it home I could hardly believe I had just bought such a superb car.
I asked my friends how much they think I paid for it, and they were quoting figures of 3-5k!!
I have bought Alfa's before and you know they've been thraypsed but the engine/gearbox are like new on this one(65k on the clock)
Only faults, alarm system ((just like a woman - needs a little understanding)any women in the forum tell me how the heck......!!!) rev counter likes the occasional day off? and the rear suspension bearing, making me drive like I've got a trilby nestled in on my parcel shelf!
P.S. Thanks for the welcome wrinx
Great site! bags of info!

hi all on the subject on iffy handling, awhile ago i posted that i felt on my car it was the shocks that are shot(or one at least)most people recon that it is the bearings in the arm as mentioned above.i recently had a wheel bearing go on the back+a brake pad stuck at an angle!!!)while i had it jacked up i checked mine and it was all ok.the handling on mine around right hand bends that are bumpy are bordering on dangerous to the unaware.if you do the bounce check its fine but i can definitly feel it skip on bumps.so soon i plan to add new uprated shocks on ,poss g&m or koni.as reference my car is a 96 1.8 16v wide body showing 81000 miles.most people say that a 155 has a sporty ride mine compared to my wifes escort si cabrio (essex girl)its like a limo!!i seem to remember someone saying that halfords are doing shocks at a cheep price if you fancy trying that.hopefully i will post a reply soon when i have fitted my new dampers.i know lots of people have had similar troubles with iffy handling--this is just my findings good luck in solving yours
This all sounds very familiar. I had the same thing on my 1.8 16V. Over bumps the back end would step out or just bounce around all over the place. Although the bump test seemed to give the OK a new set of gas shocks, nothing special I might add, just the local motor factors, solved the problem completely.
